The Big Hope

from Secret Songsketches by Petracovich

/

about

This is a home recording of a tune that happily came to me while I was fooling around with the kalimba. "We can do it" popped in and I rushed into my home studio to write down the words. This was before Obama, but not before Cesar Chavez. Hope is a nice thing, I tend to worry, so I was happy for a seed of positivity.

After hours of fun with the piano and singing and kalimba, I sent the tracks to Tad Wagner in Santa Barbara for mixing, he added bass and some nice eq's and edits, and this is what we got!

lyrics

We can do it
I seen it coming
It is in us
Already happened
Put your pants on
To meet the challenge
And your big thoughts
To hope the big hope
ahahahaha

I see highways
Empty highways
Grains of laughter
Singing sideways
I have been there
To see the seeds sewn
And the water
From hearts freely flow

aaahaa

I have seen you walking backwards
I have seen you in the sideways
I will hold you if you try to
Come back to the place you know who you are

Everything down
To the bare skin
Daughter raindrop
Soak yourself in
And sing the sun up
With your hard hands
Touch the soft earth
With them again

aaah
